UTM students learn about proposals for energy use in rural areas

Morelia, Michoacán, February 26, 2024.- Students and academics from the Technological University of Morelia (UTM) of the Renewable Energy program attended the proposal forum entitled Dialogue for the Energy Transition: Rural Energy, Energy Poverty and Distributed Generation.

This event, held at the Morelia campus of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), served as a space for the exchange of knowledge and discussion of public policy proposals presented by specialists in the field. 

It focused on promoting the sustainable and equitable use of energy in rural areas. The participation of experts, as well as members of civil society, social organizations and small businesses, enriched with discussions and proposals.

The event was jointly organized by the Institute for Research in Ecosystems and Sustainability (IIES) of UNAM, the Ecotechnology and Bioenergy Innovation Group (GIEB), the National School of Higher Studies (ENES) and the Mexican Bioenergy Network.

The dialogues were coordinated by Jorge Islas Samperio, who serves as coordinator of the energy transition, while Omar Masera, researcher at IIES-UNAM, acted as moderator of the event.

During this forum, the active participation of the Technological University of Morelia (UTM) was consolidated in a crucial area of ​​discussion for the country, reflecting the institution's continuous commitment to sustainable development and the comprehensive training of its students on issues of global relevance.
