Morelia, Michoacán, April 20, 2023.- The rector of the Technological University of Morelia (UTM), Graciela Carmina Andrade García Peláez, highlighted the importance of considering qualitative aspects in the analysis of indicators of continuous improvement of education in the state.
In his intervention during the Presentation of educational indicators of Michoacán 2023, he pointed out the need to analyze qualitative aspects in coordination with the quantitative ones on issues such as violence and insecurity outside and inside the schools, which, he said, encourages the displacement of people and disaffiliation of the student body at all levels.
He also explained the importance of carrying out an analysis of the impact of the Well-being scholarships in basic, upper secondary, and higher education, since the loss of them in some regions of very high and high marginalization has discouraged families from continuing to study; while, in upper secondary education, it has served as an anchor for permanence and terminal efficiency.
The Chancellor suggested that the decrease in attendance and disenrollment in areas of high migration is not only due to emigration to other municipalities and states, but also to circumstances of depression that fundamentally affect adolescents.
He pointed out the importance of studying the effects of scholarships at the higher level, which can be linked to development priorities, as established in the strategic objectives of the State Development Plan of this administration.
The event was attended by the Secretary of Education, Gabriela Molina; the commissioner of the Board of Directors of MejorEdu, Florentino Castro López; the General Director of the Institute of Higher and Higher Secondary Education of the State of Michoacán and the head of the Support and Monitoring Unit for the Continuous Improvement of Education, among others.
