They got their achievement with the project of a microwave oven to melt non-ferrous material
Morelia, Michoacán, December 12, 2022.- José Rafael Villaseñor Mendoza, Aldo Rodrigo Saucedo Rodríguez and Luis Raúl Estrada García won second place in Higher Level Technological Development Prototypes at the eleventh State Meeting of Robotics and Prototypes, with the project a microwave oven for non-ferrous materials that is used for Michoacan artisan jewelry.
In an interview, the three young people explained that they had several projects in mind, such as a breakfast dispenser or a meat slicer, but later they chose to improve an oven that would impact an important activity for Michoacán, such as jewelry making. This, due to the complications that artisans have to melt their raw material, due to the high degrees of temperature that they must generate.
With the support of their teacher, José Arturo Morales, they built a mold or crucible, then assembled an oven and, later, they programmed it so that it could be used according to the needs of the materials that need to be melted.
In this way, artisans who work with copper, aluminum and silver will be able to melt materials, pour them into molds and achieve their pieces with a faster drying time.
