Morelia, Michoacán, February 12, 2024.- About 43 percent of the student population at the Technological University of Morelia (UTM) are women, reported the rector Graciela C. Andrade García Peláez.

The above, during a civic event in which the International Day of Women and Girls in Science was commemorated, where she mentioned that this fact should not be interpreted as a confrontation with the male gender, but as progress in the search for equality. of opportunities. 

García Peláez highlighted that the participation of women in all careers is promoted at UTM, challenging deep-rooted stereotypes.

The celebration of a National Congress of Technological and Polytechnic Universities (UTyP) was announced, where tribute will be paid to women in science, technology, mathematics, engineering and art. This event, she said, seeks to make visible female contributions in these fields and promotes gender equality in higher education.

Students from the UTM Biotechnology program commemorated the International Day of Women and Girls in Science by presenting posters that highlight their contribution in the scientific field. This event took place within the civic event held at the university.
