Morelia, Michoacán, October 26, 2023.- The Technological University of Morelia will hold the Cempoalxóchitl Gastronomy Festival 2023, an event dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the cultural traditions of Michoacán, especially during the Night of the Dead festivities.
The Rector, Graciela C. Andrade García Peláez, highlighted the importance of this festivity in encouraging creativity, professionalism and innovation that are rooted in the customs of the state.
This festival, organized by the Gastronomy major, consists of seven contests that cover various aspects of culture, Michoacan gastronomy and sports. The competitions include Traditional Dishes, Cocktails, Making Bread of the Dead, Catrinas, Literary Calaveritas, GST Soccer Tournament and Mixed Volleyball. The competition will be evaluated by a qualifying jury made up of specialists in the field.
The contests will be held on October 30 and 31 and November 1, after the previous qualifying rounds. The university hopes that this initiative will promote the active participation of the student community in the preservation and promotion of Michoacan cultural traditions.
In addition to the gastronomic contests, the Cempoalxóchitl Gastronomy Festival 2023 will include an exhibition of Catrinas, organized by the Industrial Fashion Design major, as well as an Altars Competition in which students, academics and university staff will participate.
The Technological University of Morelia invites the entire community to join these festivities and enjoy the richness of the cultural traditions of Michoacán. This event reflects the university's commitment to the preservation and promotion of local culture and the active participation of its student community in this purpose.
