Morelia, Michoacán, September 1, 2023.- The Technological University of Morelia (UTM) successfully celebrated the fourth edition of Textil Arte, an event dedicated to Michoacán fashion and textiles to preserve Mexican culture where more than 100 students exhibited his work inspired by alebrijes and overflows.

The rector of the UTM, Graciela C. Andrade García Peláez, highlighted the creativity and innovation of the students, particularly from the Industrial Design and Fashion career, who have challenged paradigms in the world of fashion.

He stressed the importance of supporting the creative proposals of young designers and encouraged everyone not to compare this event with the traditional shows of renowned designers, but to value the proposals presented by students.

García Peláez highlighted the growing impact of the textile industry on the Mexican economy, which already represents 3.2% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), noting that Mexico has received 40 billion dollars this year, which augurs a promising future for trained graduates of the UTM.

The deputy director of the Industrial Design and Fashion Career, Laura Vieyra Jaramillo, shared her aspiration for Textil Arte to become a benchmark for fashion in the state and expressed her gratitude to the parents for trusting in the UTM and the students and teachers for their talent, as well as the industrial sector and designers for their support.
