Morelia, Michoacán, September 28, 2022.- The Technological University of Morelia (UTM) promotes health care for students with health fairs and specialized services, as well as training and integration of first aid response brigades for medical emergencies, disasters, fire fighting and rescue.

Graciela Andrade García Peláez, rector of the Technological University of Morelia, explained that since 2021 the training and integration of response brigades began, through a civil protection certification company SUACER, which developed risk analysis and worked on actions that did not require financial investment.

To raise awareness in young people about self-care, a Health Week was held with the support of various institutions such as the Mexican Institutes of Social Security (IMSS) and Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE); as well as the Ministry of Health (SSM).

These activities seek to prevent diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, tooth decay, sexually transmitted diseases, and unwanted pregnancies. In addition, playful exercises were carried out to reflect on the danger of consuming intoxicating beverages and driving a car.

The service of a nutritionist was obtained who attends the students, professors and administrative staff on a weekly basis. On two occasions specialists have performed free pap smears on university workers.

Since the beginning of the present administration, the UTM maintains a multidisciplinary team to care for medical emergencies for students, through a nurse, psychologist and dentist.
