Morelia, Michoacán, September 20, 2022.- For the Technological University of Morelia (UTM), one of the main achievements in this first year of government was the opening of the first group of the Master's Degree in Applied Engineering in Technological Innovation.

Graciela Carmina Andrade García Peláez, rector of the UTM, explained that the authorization was carried out by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP), through the General Directorate of Technological and Polytechnic Universities, after the requirements established in the Call were met. He explained that the authorization to open this educational program is historic, since in 22 years the UTM had not offered postgraduate studies, and it is also the result of the work of the teaching team and the Relevance Committee of the Technology Career of the Information (TICS).

The first UTM Master's Degree opened with 20 students and it is planned to receive another 40 more next semester, so in November the new call for the January-May 2023 semester will be published.

He added that, according to the feasibility results, the classes will be on Fridays and Saturdays to comply with the study plan that considers six semesters in which subjects such as: Creativity and technological innovation, Digital transformation, Strategic thinking and Computing are included. cloud 1, in the first quarter.

Consistent with the academic model of the UTM, the last four-month period will be spent in a Productive Unit to develop the project that will allow for the Master's degree.

García Peláez recalled that on August 9, the UTM established the State Relevance Committee, which is a collegiate body for consultation and planning, support and guidance that will contribute to the development of the University with more master's degrees, with Gastronomy being the one that progresses the most. submits to comply with the procedures required by the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).
