Morelia, Michoacán, August 6, 2022.- Morelia, Michoacán, August 6, 2022.- Committed to caring for and conserving the environment, students from the Technological University of Morelia (UTM) planted and adopted 1,200 trees.

These are ash trees and 100 bauhinia variegata, popularly known as "cow's feet", which were donated by the Forestry Commission of Michoacán (Cofom); as well as 500 pines donated by the College of Scientific and Technological Studies of the State of Michoacán (Cecytem); in addition to 350 fruit trees and 140 pines that were personally delivered by the delegate in Michoacán of the Secretariat of Agrarian, Territorial and Urban Development (Sedatu), Miguel Ángel Sandoval.

The rector of the UTM, Graciela Andrade García Peláez, convinced the students of the need to plant, care for and adopt the trees, even inviting them to give them a name. He also reminded them that in seasons with little rain it is necessary to water them at least once a week.

Andrade García explained that the distribution of the trees was georeferenced, in such a way that each student, from each of the seven engineering degrees and the bachelor's degree, knows in which zone the tree or trees that they adopted is located and now it is part of their chores and responsibility.

The rector thanked the authorities that donated the trees for having supported this project that seeks to improve the environmental conditions of the UTM.
