Students participated in the XXIV National Sports and Cultural Meeting of the Coahuila Technological Universities 2022.
Morelia, Michoacán, July 16, 2022.- The Michoacán delegation of the Technological University of Morelia (UTM) won 4 gold medals, one silver and one bronze at the XXIV National Sports and Cultural Meeting of the Coahuila Technological Universities 2022.
In said meeting, the Michoacan students participated in athletics, taekwondo and chess.
Alondra Amayrani Tapia Aguilar, an Information Technology Engineering student, won the gold medal in athletics, in the 400-meter hurdle test; and silver medal in the 100 meter hurdle test.
Érik Alejandro Pérez Téllez won a gold medal in taekwondo, as did Priscila Alejandra Anguiano Ramírez, both Gastronomy students. While the third place was obtained by Mariana Zavala Barrera, Information Technology student
Meanwhile, in Chess, Gustavo Yassir Sandoval Martínez, a Mechatronics student, won the first national place. The fourth place by team, in the rookie category, went to Gustavo Yassir, Enrique Lozano Sosa, students of Renewable Energies; Jonathan Alberto Paniagua Saldaña, Gastronomy student, and Carlos Alberto Ortiz Peña, Biotechnology student.
Itzi Pérez Esquivel, coach and head of Culture and Sports at the UTM, explained that 51 Technological Universities participated in this meeting with more than 2,000 competitors with the aim of resuming healthy competition meetings between university students of this educational subsystem that due to the pandemic had been suspended.
