Morelia, Michoacán, January 5, 2023.- The laboratory-workshop for food transformation is 80 percent complete, so it is expected to be inaugurated this month of January, since the equipment is already in place. that will be used for the development of research and academic activities by students of Biotechnology and Gastronomy careers.

The foregoing was announced by the rector Graciela Andrade García Peláez, who made a visit to supervise the progress of the work, which is carried out with an investment of 11 million pesos, authorized by the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Public Education (SEP).

Currently, the electrical connections for the equipment are being made in the laboratory-workshop for food transformation and the dehydrators, work tables, cold room and quality analysis area will be installed shortly, as well as reagents.

On the other hand, with the support of the Ministry of Communications and Public Works (SCOP), the foundations were completed in the laboratory of biotechnologies for food processes and the work is expected to be completed in March.

The equipment for this laboratory is already in place, consisting of ovens, proofers, a commercial food mixer, an automatic oil press, and a 50-liter alcoholic beverage macerator.

Finally, Graciela Andrade highlighted that this type of laboratory is unique in the entity and will strengthen the learning of 850 Biotechnology and Gastronomy students, plus those who enroll during the admission process in January 2023.
