Dana Sofía Aguilar and Alejandra León, first and second place winners, will represent Michoacán in the Regional of the National, Sports and Cultural Meeting of Technological Universities.

Morelia, Michoacán, January 19, 2023.- Dana Sofía Aguilar Arciga, a student at the Technological University of Morelia (UTM), won first place in the Chalk Mural Contest with the work "La Paz contigo", for what it will represent to the institution in the National, Sports and Cultural Meeting of Technological Universities, in its regional phase, to be held in San Miguel Allende, Guanajuato

The young Textile Design and Fashion Engineering student explained that in her work she tried to represent a "false peace" that she considered real, with the image of a dead dove. "Everyone can identify, when we run away from problems and lie to ourselves with a peace that is not real, that scares us and is difficult to face, even when you know it hurts you and before you thought you needed it."

He added: "When you face the problem you can return to the peace that does give you happiness and tranquility, over and over again we can fall into the same thing, but there will always be a way out."

The second place winner, who will also represent the UTM in the National meeting, was Cristhin Alejandra León Capi, who shared that she represented the Phoenix Bird, "because although humanity endures moments of famine or different social problems, hope remains ”.

Gonzalo Aranda Bautista won third place with a work that represents equity, through the face of a woman or man, made up of different features of color and shape, "Since in my eyes, they have the same job opportunities, to grow in college and in life.

Bryan Jesús Trejo García won fourth place with a mural called: “Future of peace”, with which he represented a part of the Cathedral of Morelia with symbols with which he expresses that everyone can live well, without insecurity and with peace.

Santiago Bucio Carrillo, coordinator of the Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Universidad Michoacana; Irasema Parra, professor of visual arts at the same faculty, Juan Pablo Luna Gómez, teacher at the Casa de la Cultura, at the Painting Workshop, and Emanuel Ávalos, architect at the UTM, with the coordination of the Head of Culture and Sports, Itzi Perez Esquivel.
