Morelia, Michoacán, October 12, 2022.- After the success with which the Textile Design and Fashion Engineering students of the Technological University of Morelia (UTM) will present 65 clothing designs in the Third Edition of Textilarte, they announced that it will be an activity that will remain and will mark the trend of Fashion Design in Michoacán.

Mariana Sosa Olmeda, General Director of the Institute of Higher and Higher Secondary Education, congratulated the students and the director of the Career, Laura Vieyra Jaramillo, and endorsed the commitment of the Government of Michoacán to guarantee the right to education of young people. 

During the event, a catwalk was held with designs and confections by the students themselves, inspired by the characteristics of the clothing used by the Mazahua, Nahuatl, Otomí and Purépecha communities. 

The rector Graciela Carmina Andrade expressed her interest in strengthening and increasing the teams of the workshops and laboratories and recalled that for the UTM its students are the most important thing, therefore, the institution that she presides over will continue working to continue providing a quality education. 

During the event, the Industrial Design and Fashion Engineering work team was congratulated for being the ones who offer students knowledge from the history of fashion, the concept of a fiber, thread making and the process of fabrics, weaves and dyeing , followed by figurines in which the design is reflected and then the cutting and making of each garment is carried out.

In addition, the support of businessman José Luis Ortega Reyes was recognized, who donated two knitting machines on loan. Also present was the designer Mitzi, who recognized the talent and quality of the students' designs.
